Secure Data Exchange
& Internet Security
In 1994 there wasn't much to worry
about when it came to securing the Internet. The existing provisions for
passwords and other built-in measures proved sufficient to safeguard circuits,
servers and other networking hardware.
As the Internet exploded
into massive growth so did the demand for software applications, features,
new and faster communication methods and the like. The demand to deliver
this new technology pushed many companies to overlook security issues
by reducing their test time in order for their products to be released
and used by the public. At the same time many computer
hacker rings formed to "explore" this new technology and its
vulnerabilities.
"If
you build it, we will break it"
And so the struggle between good and evil began. Hacking and security
issues are nothing new to computer-automated systems. The Internet is
simply a faster and more efficient means to attempt illegal acts. Fortunately
companies like St. Louis Internet have invested a substantial amount of
money and technical resources to protect your interests.
All of our dedicated connection customers, web hosting, EMAIL and other
servers sit behind a commercial-grade firewall with extensive alert, filtering
and reporting features. This service is provided at no additional charge
to our customers.
Secure
Data Exchange
St. Louis Internet offers a secure data exchange system whereby you can
send and receive documents which have been encrypted with the Advanced
Encryption Standard (AES) used by the U.S. Government. Using the RIJNDAEL
algorithm, AES will replace the "Triple DES" algorithm currently
used by the U.S. Government.
Our Secure Data Exchange (SDE) transport includes a 128-bit SSL file upload
encryption PLUS 128-bit AES file encryption. According to government
studies it would take 149 trillion YEARS to crack data encrypted with
AES if DES could be cracked in one second (which it can't).
How Do
I Use It ?
First you will be issued a personal Digital ID key from
us. This identifies you to our server as an authenticated user. Any other
person or company you wish to exchange data with will also need a Digital
ID key from us.
Once you have obtained your personal Digital ID key you may begin encrypting
and sharing any type of data file between any other person or entity with
their own Digital ID key.
It's as easy as logging into our system and select a file off your local
hard drive to be encrypted and uploaded to a vault on our server. Once
the file has been uploaded we will send EMAIL notifications to the parties
you want to receive the data and they will login to our server vault and
retrieve the file. You will be able to see who has been notified and who
has downloaded the data via your browser.
How is
the File Secured ?
Each file you want to send is uploaded over the encrypted 128-bit SSL
transport to our server and then encrypted again with your 128-bit AES
key. A new key is generated each time you upload a different file so the
same key is not used each time.
What
about Hackers & Security ?
In order for someone to read your AES encrypted file they must first have
your Digital ID key. You are responsible for keeping your Digital ID key
safe. Secondly they must have the AES key for the particular file they
want to unencrypt. Given both these requirements it would take 149 trillion
years times two to successfully enter the system and decode your file.
How much
does it cost ?
A Digital ID costs $ 199.00 per year.
Secure Data Exchange (SDE) service is between $30 and $200 per month depending
on volume.

Get Protected,
Stay Protected
Businesses
that have been hacked experience:
- An
Internal or external hard dollar cost to repair
- Decrease
in sales revenue from downtime/inavailability
- Employee
productivity goes down
- Customer
service suffers
- Moral
problems
The costs
associated with rebuilding systems which have been hacked reaches the
billions annually and you don't have to be a Fortune-500 company to be
a target. Most hackers are looking for anyone with an open door to
get their thrills, and even if caught and prosecuted seldom have any
assets with which to pay you back.
